So instead of a lot of writing today I’m going to show you 20 photos. They aren’t the most clear images, but it should give you food for thought. Since Oct 1st I’ve dedicated to filling one sketchbook page per day; I hope to continue this throughout the whole year. It is generating lots of ideas and has become a genuine, important brainstorm space (not to mention a decompression space)! The work isn’t anything I’m most proud of, this is truly about process… and perhaps generating ideas for more finished products. (Please note: I have edited some of the writing and images for privacy).

Wow, thank you for sharing this, it was a fascinating look into your creative process. You know I have a voyeuristic fascination with that subject! I’m going to share this post with my daughter, who I think will really connect to it.
Your focus on privacy connects with me. I outline my personal essays on a wall-sized whiteboard, and on a couple of occasions I’ve included photos of the wall in my blog, but I always reduce the pixel size so you can’t make out the words too well, because loved ones are sometimes mentioned there.
Hi Patrick! I’m happy to share, but I guess I do believe there is a line as to just how much. I don’t want anyone in my life mentioned in any way without their permission, especially via the internet. I’m glad you found the process interesting! I tend to see my sketchbook as a doodling space and there is so much research now that suggests doodling helps with attention and processing of information that I am embracing it more. I am so trained though, it still feels like a guilty pleasure. I doodle at meetings and feel like I’m the naughty student not paying attention when really it’s how I focus!
