I wish I did take my camera with me everywhere, all of the time. I don’t because I do realize it sometimes makes me a voyeur rather than a participant in activities. This weekend the UAE celebrated its 40th anniversary as a unified country. There was so much pride going around! One woman spent thousands of dollars and covered her car in Swarovski crystals, a man decorated his with dirham coins, and the flags and cars painted with flag colors of the UAE populated the roads.
I think photography has become a wonderful release for me. While my drawings and paintings I am always worried about concept and idea development, I allow my powers of observation and specific goals to drive my photographs. I find it freeing!
Here are some photos from my weekend here.
BE COURAGEOUSLY CREATIVE: Do you have a creative method that allows for a release? How do you take a break from the intensity of the creative process?
Agree – it’s really worthwhile taking your camera everywhere. It makes you look into the beauty of things rather than see past it to the function.
